🎪 Meet the Cast: Smithsonian Folklife Festival 2026
Meet Urnaa! Uranbileg "Urnaa" Angarag was five years old when her grandparents took her to see the Mongolian National Circus. One contortion act later, her mind was made up. She auditioned at six, was accepted into the Mongolian National Circus School under legendary teacher Majigsuren Dashpuntsag, and was performing on stage by nine.
Twenty-five years and more than 30 countries later, Urnaa has performed with Cirque du Soleil, Teatro Zinzanni, and the Summer Circus Spectacular at The Ringling Museum, and her range covers contortion, hand balancing, aerial lyra, silks, chandelier, adagio, and archery contortion. She`s a finalist from Mongolia`s Got Talent, took first place at the 2020 Cirque Life international competition, earned bronze at the 2021 Princess Circus Festival, and is a national champion yoga athlete. She`s also a certified instructor who now leads contortion retreats around the world, from Japan to Mexico, passing Mongolian technique to the next generation.
This Labor Day weekend, she brings that artistry to the Rotunda stage at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. Three shows daily, September 5–7. Free and open to the public!

🎪 Meet the Cast: Smithsonian Folklife Festival 2026
Los Polémicos, featuring Gunther, Anru, Luis and Nikita of the famed Caballero family, carry forward one of the circus’s great performance traditions, with the most remarkable record of achievement on stages around the world.
The family is celebrated for its extraordinary flying trapeze accomplishments, earning the top honor of a Gold Clown at the prestigious International Circus Festival of Monte Carlo in 2025.
The Caballero family produces its own legendary family circus, with several units performing throughout California and the West Coast. While their aerial and acrobatic achievements have made them internationally renowned, Los Polémicos are bringing a different side of the Caballero legacy to Washington, DC.
At the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, they will showcase their vibrant musical comedy, combining character, music, and theatrical flair in a performance that reflects the family’s versatility and generations of circus artistry.

🎪 Meet the Cast: Smithsonian Folklife Festival 2026
Meet Ermiyas Muluken, a native of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, whose journey to the circus stage is one of the most remarkable in our cast.
Ermiyas fell in love with circus as a youth after experimenting with rolla bolla using a whiskey bottle, a glass, and some wood. That spark of curiosity grew into a professional career that has taken him from the African Roots Circus School in Addis Ababa to stages across the globe, including Mother Africa, Funexpress in Turkey, Bindlestiff Family Cirkus, and Cirque du Fringe: D`illusion at the Rochester Fringe Festival.
Today, Ermiyas amazes audiences with his ladder, rolla bolla, and juggling acts, combining incredible balancing skills with undeniable showmanship. And fitting for this moment, he calls Washington, D.C. home.
He takes the Rotunda stage at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival September 5-7. Three shows daily. Free and open to the public! 🎪

Meet Noel Aguilar, a world-renowned juggler from a multi-generational circus family in Mexico. Introduced to the art of juggling at a young age by his father, a skilled juggler himself, Noel developed a passion for the craft that has taken him to shows, theaters, and circuses around the world.
His talent speaks for itself. Noel has won multiple awards for his juggling act, including the prestigious Clown Award for the New Generation presented by the royal family of Monte Carlo. Fun, energetic, and charismatic, he never fails to dazzle, no matter the stage.
This Labor Day weekend, Noel brings his incredible artistry to the Rotunda of the Arts and Industries Building at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. Three shows daily, September 5-7. Free and open to the public! 🎪
