Davide Vassallo
I’m Davide Vassallo. My grandfather was a clown. My father is a clown. And I’m a clown too.
Since my childhood I felt like I was a clown. I dreamed that working in the ring would be as funny as Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton or the Italian master of comedy, Totò. My father taught me to walk on a rope, to play musical instruments, and to do somersaults. He explained to me how to be funny every day, how to be a clown. I have had a lot of experiences in my family’s circus. When I was fifteen my father decided he was ready to work abroad and he started in England with the Billy Smart Circus. A few years later my dreams came true: I began performing in the ring of the fascinating old-style circus “Il Florilegio”. In recent years I have worked in Norway (at Cirkus Arnardo), Belgium, Germany and Italy for circuses and television shows. I’m happy to be a clown! Clowning is fun, it’s a privilege, it’s a dream. And the dream is the most beautiful job in the world.
