By: Carrie Seidman, Columnist, Sarasota Herald-Tribune

One year after Wallenda accident, the show must go on for Circus Sarasota

By: Marty Clear, Bradenton Herald

SARASOTA — A year ago, five performers in Nik Wallenda’s high-wire act were seriously injured in an accident during Circus Sarasota rehearsals. Circus Sarasota for 2018 opens Friday, almost a year to the day after the incident.Circus officials are taking a “show-must-go-on” attitude. More

Alliance honors local arts champions

By Carrie Seidman, Sarasota Herald-Tribune

Some high-energy entertainment, a video tribute to a lost advocate and plenty of recognition for local arts champions made for a lively Monday night at the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County’s 19th “Celebration of the Arts” gathering at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.

The annual event honors individuals and organizations selected by special panels for their contributions to the area’s arts and cultural scene.  More

Exploring the Arts in School

By Jordana Terrell – Sarasota Herald-Tribune

On a recent Saturday, Suncoast Technical College swapped its typical educational courses for halls filled with students on hover boards, teachers playing with puppets, and multitudes of artistic work provided by dozens of Sarasota organizations.

The change of scenery was due to EdExplore SRQ’s second annual ED-Stravaganza, featuring 40 Sarasota area arts, culture and science organizations offering field trips and in-class opportunities for teachers to provide for their students during the school year. Clowns, scientists, actors and even some ice cream connoisseurs were pitching unique approaches to learning. More
